At Flatterly, transparency is a core value. This page explains how we earn revenue from shopping recommendations and how affiliate relationships work within our platform. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and testimonials.

1. How Flatterly Earns Revenue

Flatterly is a free and premium AI-powered styling assistant. In addition to subscription fees, we earn revenue through affiliate commissions when you purchase products through links in our app or on our website.

When you click on a product recommendation and make a purchase from one of our partner retailers, Flatterly may earn a commission of 8% to 15% of the sale price. This commission is paid to us by the retailer, not by you.

2. How Affiliate Links Work

When Flatterly recommends a product, the link to the retailer may contain an affiliate tracking parameter. This parameter tells the retailer that you were referred by Flatterly. Here is how the process works:

  • Our AI analyzes your Style Genome profile, body geometry, color palette, and budget preferences.
  • Based on this analysis, Flatterly generates personalized product recommendations across multiple price tiers, from fast fashion to luxury.
  • When you tap or click a product link, you are directed to the retailer's website with an affiliate tracking parameter.
  • If you make a purchase within the retailer's attribution window (typically 24 hours to 30 days, depending on the retailer), Flatterly earns a commission.
  • The commission is paid by the retailer. You pay the same price as any other customer.

3. Recommendations Are Based on Your Style, Not Commissions

This is the most important point: our recommendations are driven by AI analysis of your personal style profile, not by which products earn us the highest commission.

Flatterly's recommendation engine uses machine learning models trained on style principles, body geometry compatibility, color theory, and your stated preferences. The ranking and selection of recommended products is determined by:

  • Style compatibility: How well a product matches your Style Genome and aesthetic preferences.
  • Body geometry fit: Whether the item's silhouette, proportions, and cut are likely to flatter your body type.
  • Color palette match: Whether the colors complement your personal color analysis.
  • Budget alignment: Whether the price falls within your stated budget range.
  • Wardrobe gaps: Whether the item fills a missing category in your existing wardrobe.

Commission rates do not influence the order, prominence, or selection of recommendations. A product from a retailer with a 15% commission rate will not be ranked higher than a more suitable product from a retailer with an 8% rate.

4. Prices Are Not Affected

The price you pay for any product purchased through Flatterly's affiliate links is the same price you would pay if you visited the retailer directly. Affiliate commissions are a cost borne by the retailer as part of their marketing budget. There is no markup, surcharge, or additional fee applied to your purchase as a result of using our affiliate links.

5. Which Retailers Are Affiliate Partners?

Flatterly partners with a wide range of retailers across the fashion spectrum. Our affiliate partnerships include, but are not limited to, fast fashion brands, mid-range retailers, designer boutiques, and luxury fashion houses. We integrate with retailers through platforms such as Shopify and direct affiliate programs.

Not all recommended products generate affiliate revenue. In some cases, we may recommend products from retailers with whom we do not have an affiliate relationship. These recommendations are included because they are the best match for your style profile.

6. Purchase Verdict Feature

Flatterly's Purchase Verdict feature allows you to submit any product URL for an honest AI assessment of whether you should buy it. This analysis is performed independently of affiliate relationships. The verdict may recommend against purchasing a product, even if we would earn a commission on the sale. Our commitment to honest, style-first advice takes priority over revenue.

7. How to Identify Affiliate Links

All shopping recommendations within Flatterly may contain affiliate links. Rather than marking individual links, we want you to assume that any product link within Flatterly may be an affiliate link that generates revenue for us. This blanket disclosure ensures full transparency.

8. Your Choices

You are never required to use our affiliate links. You may:

  • Use Flatterly's recommendations as inspiration and search for products directly on retailer websites.
  • Copy product names from our recommendations and navigate to retailers independently.
  • Continue using all of Flatterly's styling and analysis features without clicking any product links.
